Vitality Oils Part 1 of 5

Perfect for adding flavor to your favorite foods or using as dietary supplements, the Vitality line of dietary essential oils gives you the freedom to share and explore some of our best-loved essential oils in a variety of nutritious and delicious ways. In a 5-part blog, we will discuss ways to enhance your culinary fare using Young Living's newest line of essential oils, Vitality!

Basil Vitality (Ocimum basilicum) is popular in Asian and European cuisine and offers a sweet, warm scent and flavor. Pairing well with savory foods, the sweet and slightly peppery flavor of Basil makes a wonderful addition to sauces, breads, soups, chicken or seafood, adding a more defined flavor than with the dried herb, without having the added steps of preparing the fresh herb. To add just a hint of basil, use a toothpick dipped in the oil and swirl it around in your food preparations.

Suggested uses from Young Living:
  • Add to deli-salads, Asian or Italian-inspired soups, or salad dressings/vinaigrettes
  • Mix with a mild tea such as chamomile with a few drops of honey to add sweetness

Bergamot Vitality is cold pressed from the bergamot fruit, which is known for giving Earl Grey tea its distinctive flavor. The zesty, citrus taste of Bergamot makes it a great choice for seafood dishes.

Suggested uses from Young Living:
  • 1-2 drops in a vegetarian gel capsule taken as a dietary supplement
  • Several times during grilling, brush seafood with Bergamot Vitality-infused olive oil
  • In place of a teaspoon of citrus zest, use a drop of Bergamot in baked goods recipes
  • Mix 1-2 drops with some Blue Agave sweetener and use as a drizzle on muffins or tarts

  • Use in rubs or marinades, add to grilled veggies or in homemade salad dressings
  • Add to fresh made salsa or guacamole
  • Use to flavor pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or deli salads

Carrot Seed Vitality (Daucus carota sativa) essential oil is distilled from the seeds and aerial parts of wild carrots. Its complex flavor brings a delicious addition to savory dishes. With many of the same constituents as the carrots from which it’s derived, Carrot Seed Vitality may support overall health and well-being.

Suggested uses from Young Living:
  • 1-2 drops taken in a vegetarian gel capsule to support overall health and well-being
  • 1 drop to roasted veggies to give an earthy flavor
  • 1-2 drops added to salad dressing
  • Add some drops to perk up the flavor of quinoa or wild rice

Celery Seed Vitality is produced from the steam distillation of dried seeds and brings a pleasant aroma and taste to pickling blends and brines. Its earthy and grassy flavor can add a unique taste to coleslaw and salad dressings, and can also be used for seasoning poultry.

Suggested uses from Young Living:
  • 1-2 drops added to a vegetarian gel capsule and taken as a dietary supplement
  • combine with Carrot Seed Vitality in your next vegetable or poultry-based soup
  • add 1-2 drops in the cooking water for rice and serve with poultry
